“It is not a daily increase, but a daily decrease. Hack away at the inessentials.” (Bruce Lee)
House of Movement was created by Alda Gomez in Dublin, Ireland, in 2010 and moved to Devon in 2014. Alda works closely with Nick Taylor from Devon Tai Chi Centre who has been teaching tai chi for over 15 years. Here is what she offers in her classes:
Tai Chi: Gentle, easy to learn movements, explained using verbal imagery and stories to make them easier to learn. Tai chi is a martial art used for its health benefits. But the movements are punches, kicks, and it can be fun to get hold of a sword in some of our workshops with Nick.
Qigong: Emulating movements from the natural world (trees, cranes, tigers, etc.), qigong is the best way to get fit while making beautiful, dance-like exercises.
Stress Management: Our consume-based society creates needs in us that are impossible to be fulfilled. Because stress grows depending on our perception of reality, when we perceive our needs not being met, stress grows in our bodies. When stress becomes chronic, we are heading into a major body crisis: mental or physical illness. Alda teaches relaxation exercises, meditation and mindfulness to help you manage your stress levels.
